- June 26, 2018 – Massachusetts Board Disciplines Ricky Greenwald Following Ethics Investigation
The Massachusetts Board of Registration of Psychologists entered into a public Consent Agreement with psychologist Ricky Greenwald, Psy.D., resolving an ethics investigation arising from his professional involvement in a child custody matter. Rather than proceed to a disciplinary hearing, Greenwald accepted a negotiated disciplinary agreement that placed his psychology license on probation for a minimum of three years.
According to the Consent Agreement, Greenwald acknowledged that, if the matter proceeded to a hearing, the Board could find that he assumed a child custody evaluation role despite financial interests and professional relationships that impaired his impartiality. The agreement further states the Board could find he conducted inadequate examinations, relied on misinterpreted assessment results, reinforced a false trauma narrative, and violated multiple provisions of the American Psychological Association’s Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct.
The disciplinary order required Greenwald to practice under the weekly supervision of a Board-approved psychologist with expertise in family systems and high-conflict divorce matters, complete additional continuing education, submit quarterly reports to the Board, and satisfy other conditions before becoming eligible to petition for termination of probation.
