- May 21, 2012 – Chittenden Unit for Special Investigations (CUSI) Executes Search Warrant Seeking Highly Specific Items

In May 2012, Detective Morgan Lawton of the Chittenden Unit for Special Investigations (CUSI) obtained and executed a search warrant at my home in Winooski, Vermont. The warrant authorized investigators to search for an extraordinary list of alleged evidence, including duct tape, rope, candy with faces printed on it, gummy worms and sharks, costumes and tails, sausage, photographs of my son nude or in costume, pajamas with holes cut in the backside, a camping shower, and even a ball described as being an appropriate size to fit in a child’s mouth.

None of these items was found. The inventory filed after the search does not list a single one of the items described in the warrant. Instead, it documents the personal property investigators seized from my home during the execution of the warrant.
