Five days after filing for a restraining order and reporting the same fabricated allegations to police, Raymond and Marilynn Knutsen took my six year old son to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
By that point, they had already presented their story to the family court and to law enforcement. Next, they brought it to emergency room physicians, claiming my son had been abused.
The emergency department performed a medical examination.
The examination documented no findings consistent with abuse.
Despite the lack of medical evidence, the emergency room record preserves another important part of the story. While doctors evaluated my son, Marilynn Knutsen repeated numerous false statements about me, claiming I suffered from bipolar disorder, multiple personality disorder, schizophrenia, and polysubstance abuse. She also assured hospital staff that neither she nor Raymond had any history of mental illness. Marilynn assured hospital staff that neither she nor Raymond had any history of mental illness or substance abuse. Readers can compare that statement with the grotesque false allegations they made, and with the court’s later finding that they had coached a six year old child to tell tales of bizarre sex abuse acts that never happed.
“Stepmother reports pt’s biological mother has a history of mental health diagnoses including bipolar disorder, multiple personality disorder and possibly schizophrenia. She states she is aware pt’s mother has a history of polysubstance abuse. She states neither she nor pt’s father have mental health diagnoses or a history of substance use. Stepmother states she and Leif’s father intend to involve Leif in ongoing counseling.”
Those statements were not medical findings. They were simply part of the history provided to hospital staff.
The medical findings themselves told a different story.
Once again, objective evidence failed to support the allegations Raymond and Marilynn Knutsen had been advancing through multiple institutions.
