- August 24, 2012 – Ray and Marilynn Knutsen Demanded the Least Reliable Lie Detector and Rejected the Better One

On August 24, 2012, attorney Peter Langrock rejected my offer to undergo a functional MRI (fMRI) deception assessment at no cost and instead, continued insisting that I submit to a traditional polygraph examination.

I had not refused to be tested. I simply offered a different method that examined brain activity rather than physiological stress responses. Langrock dismissed the proposal, claiming it was a $4,000 plus evaluation on a process which I have no familiarity with, even though the examination offered to me was free.

By that time I was under extraordinary stress from months of false allegations, investigations, and separation from my son. A polygraph measures physiological stress, not deception, making it a particularly questionable choice under those circumstances.

The exchange raised an important question: if the objective was discovering the truth, why reject the examination I was willing to take and continue demanding the one with the weaker scientific foundation?
